According to polling data there is a large swath of both the U.S. and international public who are interested in the UFO (UAP) topic. For instance, this 2021 Gallup poll shows that 41% of Americans believe that some UFOs have been alien spacecraft. To that portion of the public, the former head of the U.S. Defense Department’s UFO Program, AATIP has written a book giving us a picture of our current understanding of humanity’s interaction with UFOs.

The subject of UFOs has been hot as of late, with several congressional hearings on the topic, frequent mentions in the news, and legislation addressing government secrecy surrounding UFOs adopted in 2022 and 2023. With all of the interest and activity surrounding UFOs in society, the time is ripe for an A-grade explanation of our current state of understanding of the UFO phenomenon. Author Luis Elizondo is by all accounts the perfect person to fill in our knowledge. While working at the Department of Defense, he had responsibility for a program called AATIP (Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program). This program was tasked with understanding potential risks presented by UFOs.

And there starts the story presented in Imminent. We learn about Elizondo, a man with high level security clearances running into all manner of unnecessary government stonewalling and other nastiness because of his efforts to research the topic. At the same time, he discovers that yes, the UFO phenomenon is real. That there are crashed craft and dead alien bodies in the possession of the U.S. government. Further, his analysis of the situation shows that military interactions with these craft are both shockingly frequent and frighteningly dangerous. He is led to conclude that there is a real threat that needs to be addressed.

And what a ride this book takes us on. We discover all manner of crashes and UFO recovery efforts undertaken by the U.S. military. We learn of other dangerous interactions reported by naval aviators and others between aircraft and UFOs. We uncover insidious efforts to silence talk on the topic, and finally of successful efforts to engage Congress and pass laws to allow U.S. government officials who are aware of these programs to speak openly to Congress about UFOs.

Some of the details presented may be a bit shocking to the uninitiated. As Elizondo says on the first page of the introduction “buckle up. There is a lot more.” He presents evidence for physical implants placed into humans, cattle mutilations and the psychic ability known as remote viewing.

Other interesting topics Elizondo broaches include the concept of ultraterrestrials, that idea that there may be non-human intelligences sharing this planet with us. He names the names of the defense contractors that he feels are holding the actual crashed craft and alien bodies,  and tells us the names of presidents he believes have been briefed on the UFOs.  He delves into the concept of zero point energy, the idea that usable energy can be harvested from the vacuum of space. He outlines a physicist’s hypothesis of how UFOs operate that explains all of their physics defying behaviors. “Buckle up” indeed.

We see an interesting progression in the UFO story presented to the public over the past several years. In 2017, a New York Times article disclosed to the public for the first time the presence of the AWWSAP and AATIP government UFO programs. At that point the narrative consisted of government held crashed craft. Nothing else. In 2023 the narrative was expanded when whistleblower David Grusch testified to Congress that the government possess numerous crashed craft and alien bodies – “biologics”. Now in late 2024 Elizondo lays out a much more complete narrative outlining the government programs, the coverup, and many details of the interactions of UFOs and aliens with humans.

This ‘outing’ of the UFO topic to the public is due in large part to Elizondo’s efforts. With the help of many others, he is slowing moving an intransigent government in the direction of disclosing what they know about the UFOs visiting us nearly daily.

In the end, we have learned from a highly credible insider what the U.S. government already knows: we are not alone in this universe and there is intelligent non-human life visiting earth and interacting with humans.

We’re still in a place where no member of the general public has seen the remains of a crashed UFO or a dead alien body – the ultimate proof that the UFO phenomenon is real. With Imminent, we have a strong next step in our learning about the reality of UFOs: An American hero, with high level security clearances, who gained access to the government’s UFO information, and ultimately, shared what he learned with the public. It’s an engaging and enjoyable read.
