Non-Human – The Rendlesham Forest UFO Incidents: 42 Years of Denial

The Premise

In Non-Human, Gary Heseltine asserts that the December 1980 Rendlesham Forest incident was not a brief, isolated anomaly, but a complex, multi-day series of encounters with a non-human intelligence (NHI) that has been deliberately obfuscated by both the United States and United Kingdom governments.

His central thesis is that the official explanations provided by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD)—which attributed the sightings to the Orfordness lighthouse, atmospheric anomalies, or practical jokes—are demonstrably false when subjected to rigorous law enforcement standards. As a former police detective, Heseltine argues that the military authorities failed to conduct a basic forensic investigation at the time of the event. By reconstructing the timeline using standard police methodology, he argues that the sheer volume of corroborating witness testimony and physical trace evidence conclusively proves a localized, sustained incursion by advanced, non-human technology into a highly sensitive, nuclear-armed military installation.

Why's It's Important

Non-Human is important to the study of UAP because it introduces rigorous law enforcement and forensic investigative standards to a legacy UFO case. Historically, cases like Rendlesham have been relegated to folklore or subjected to endless, unstructured debate. Heseltine’s work is important because it provides a methodological blueprint for how to re-evaluate historical UAP incidents using objective, evidentiary standards. By treating the event as a crime scene rather than a paranormal occurrence, the book exposes the systemic inadequacies of past military investigations and demonstrates how historical data can still be mined for empirical value in the modern disclosure era.

Heseltine is very well qualified to research this complex case with many witnesses. He spent a career as a police detective focusing on advanced interviewing skills with specific training and work assignments on handling complex cases. He is a long-experienced UFO investigator of some renown in the U.K. and has spent 5 years investigating and accumulating interviews and evidence on this event.

Our Evaluation

It’s difficult if not impossible to get to an absolute truth on UFO events. Forces work to suppress information. Disinformation abounds. The best we will ever have is a hypothesis, well supported by available evidence. Here we have a new, well documented and carefully researched and thought-out hypothesis on what happened at Rendlesham Forest in December of 1980.

My sense is that this is an important book both in that it advances the Rendlesham Forest incident narrative and in that its careful research is fully laid out in the book. I believe that fans and researchers of the incident will come to see this as the next advancement in our understanding of this important piece of UFO history.
